**** I am currently accepting Guest Posts on the blog for Throwback Thursday posts****
I am thrilled that so many people have been contacting me via email about submitting a guest post to the blog. In summary yes I do accept guest posts to the blog. I think of them as similar to a conversation you have with other travellers while on the road. There is so much to be learnt from each other!
However as this is my blog I am going to be picky about what I allow to be posted on here. I value my readers and only want to offer quality writing to my followers. So here are some guidelines for guest posting on the blog.
1) We must have a real life or online social media relationship
To guest post on Gee You’re Brave we must know each other in real life. If we do not have a positive real life relationship then we must already be connected via social media. Do you already follow this blog? Do you follow the Gee You’re Brave Facebook page? Do you follow me on Instagram or Pinterest? Have you been someone who has commented on my blog in a helpful way? You don’t need to have your own blog (although being able to read your previous writing content is helpful) but evidence that you do not work for a company which churns out “quality” dull content for blog sites is important. If you do work for one of these companies then sorry, we are not a suitable match.
Successful guest posters are people who know the values of this blog and what Gee You’re Brave offers.
2) Share a story not promote a product
If you are interested in submitting a guest post then it needs to be an honest story. If you are submitting a blog post which is a disguised attempt to promote a product then it will not be accepted. Instead contact me regarding a sponsored post and see if we can work together in a paid capacity.
3) Your words and your images must be your own
Anything offered up to Gee You’re Brave needs to be owned exclusively by you and you have permission to use. Please do not send me travel photos of your kids and another children as well. The content must not have been produced, in part or full, for any other blog All photographs must be your own and not lifted from Pinterest.
4) I reserve the right to edit posts
If you submit a guest post to Gee You’re Brave then you accept that as this is my blog I reserve the right to edit or make changes to the final product. In some circumstances the post may not be posted on the blog if I feel it is unsuitable. Please indicate how you wish to be identified in the post eg if your name is Sarah you may prefer to be known in another name or the names of your children adjusted to nicknames. Under no circumstances will anonymous posts be accepted.
5) Use your own voice and a sense of humour
Guest posts are more likely to be posted if they are humorous and will be interesting and engaging for my readers. Get creative, have fun. Inspire, motivate and challenge my readers. Do remember though to add the details so that the post can be a practical source of information. You don’t need to write in the same style as me – each writer has their own unique voice which makes them interesting – but consider whether your style matches what is already on offer here at Gee You’re Brave
6) Actually pitch an idea with a paragraph or two
Please don’t submit full guest posts. Instead a brief overview pitch allows me to determine whether “yes”, “no” or “let’s talk some more”. Posts must be in written form and must be in English. A minimum post length is 250 words and a maximum of 2500 words.
7) Don’t add links
Like I said before this is not a paid insertion or sponsored post. If you place links then I will remove them. You are allowed to include links to your social media profile or company in the byline for the bio which will follow the guest post.
8) Be willing to stay and chat
Guest posts usually get people talking. If you would like to submit a guest post then please be willing to respond to any questions that are asked via commenting on the same day. I will give 24hrs notice before a guest post will go live.
9) Promote on social media
I will promote guest posts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. If you write something for Gee You’re Brave I would like you to also promote your post on your social media. Encourage your friends to share the post. Just make sure the sharing is not harassing and done in a tasteful, fun manner. However the guest post in full should only be available here on the blog and permission to reproduce is not given.
How to submit a guest post.
If your guest post matches the above guidelines then I will be happy to receive an email from you at firstname.lastname@example.org
Guest posts can be written as an email and attached as a word document. Please attach photographs seperately and indicate in the text where photographs should be placed.
