It is only 3 sleeps now till Christmas? Today I wrapped all the presents and the one advantage of moving house during the silly season is there is no cooking or food prepping for the Christmas Day feasts. We managed the perfect Santa photo and the Santa videos are ready to go. The infectious Christmas Spirit of kids is so contagious. Carols have been our bedtime song since before the 1st of December.
I saw this little Christmas quiz over on Our Urban Box with Fleur and since I love a little Q&A, I decided to join in too. She is also hosting the Merry Christmas Mash Up Blog Party along with my other blogging friends Lauren @ The Thud and Lauren @ Life at Number Five (no you don’t have to be called Lauren to be a great blogger). If you want the best collection of Christmas posts this season then head over there (there are more than 50 to read).
Alright here we go
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Love Actually – I love how all the story lines come together and my daughter is named after one of the characters.
Do you open your presents Christmas morning or Christmas Eve?
We open the presents Christmas morning but we eat the huge dinner with our family on Christmas Eve. Nothing like going to dinner on a full, bloated stomach.
Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
My parents worked hard to extend our belief in Santa. Dad used to show me the marks on the driveway where the sleigh used to land. I now know dad must have been busy skidding the BMX bike down the driveway at midnight. Mum and dad would always take us on great Christmas light tours and of course I can remember the Christmas day lunches which always felt at least 40 degrees.
Favourite festive food?
What is not to love about Christmas lunch. I love the pavlova and the christmas pudding with the mystery coin. I also love pork with crackle and an amazing artichoke dip which is made by hubsters aunty. At my parents house it feels like Christmas when I see that mum has bought the chocolate coated sultanas. Yumm
Favourite Christmas gift?
Hard question but the year hubby managed to get my dream kayak to the house as a surprise was pretty hard to beat. And as a child I remember longing for a GEM doll and this totally blew my mind when it arrived with the Barbie and the Rockers Stage. Be still my 1980s heart.
Favourite Christmas scent?
The smell of a freshly cut pine tree. Unfortunately my eyes don’t love it as much.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Usually it involves wearing special pyjamas for the kids. We put out a food and a snack for Santa. We then watch a Christmas Movie and I try to read them the Night before Christmas but they haven’t been into it in previous years. Once the kids are tucked in bed we usually wrap anything remaining. We always spend Christmas Eve at our in-laws and this is when our huge Christmas feast is.
What tops your tree?
A gold star that my grandparents used to have on their tree. It’s vintage now.
As a kid, what was the one extravagant present you always asked for but never received?
I remember seeing the huge toy shop with millions of small packets of food. I also remember longing for a life sized rocking horse but I got neither. Poor deprived child.
What is the best part about Christmas for you?
The whimsy and magic of it. I love writing the letters to Santa with the kids. I love the Santa videos and choosing and wrappign their presents. I love all the magic while they are little. I know it won’t last for ever so I am soaking it all up now.
