Well it is Day 3 of the 14 day juice cleanse and I am officially declaring myself a juicing loser. Day 1 kicked off with a delay due to the missing celery. But I hit up the juice in the afternoon (which I have since read is the best time for alkaline juices for absorption) and was surprised. It was my first green smoothie and I liked the taste.
The juice was quite thick and that was in part because I didn’t have a juicer. I wasn’t really juicing I was in fact making smoothies which wasn’t the aim of the juice cleanse.
Day 2 I went on a hunt for a juicer. I saw some cheap deals but apparently all this glorious weather has kicked off a fitness cleanse which has seen tight arse health wannabees such as myself run into the stores, snap up all the cheap juicers and leave only the expensive hard-core health juicers for several hundred dollars on the shelves. Ain’t no way those babies were coming home with me on our budget.
So I didn’t make the next juice. I did drink more of the first green smoothie and resigned myself to grabbing a juicer and catching up.
Day 3 – Juice with a Zing arrived in my email and my gut flipped a little and I mentally checked out. No drink I want to drink has ginger in it. No siree. I HATE ginger with a passion. Then to make it even worse I was meant to add cayenne pepper.
With anaphylaxsis my reaction is a burning sensation in my mouth and for that reason I avoid things which are hot and spicy. I don’t have cayenne pepper in my house and the thought of drinking that in the morning did not put a zing in my step.
Not doing too well am I! Not too inspiring.
Still one small improvement is I have taken to fruit infusing my water. With gorgeous mint growing in Raya’s garden, lots of lemons and cucumber around I decided to infuse some water for dinner time. Raya tried it, which was a good step, before promptly declaring it horrid, but at least a step in the right direction.
Tonight I think we will try strawberry, lime and mint – I am sure the pink colour will be a winner plus will have a sweeter taste.
I am still wanting to keep on with juicing but need to grab myself a juicer first.
Anyone want to suggest me a recipe that doesn’t come with a Zing!
